Initial assessment
We always prefer to see you in person in our clinic if possible, but if it's not a video session on Zoom is another option. This session is all about getting to the root of your problem. It's likely to last between 30 and 45 minutes. We'll talk to you about your symptoms, how they may have changed over time, and what treatment you may have already tried. Do please bring with you any relevant medical records you may have.
Usually there will be a physical examination too, if you're in the room, subject to your consent!
Outputs and next steps
What happens next depends very much on your symptoms, and on what you want to happen.
- We may suggest referring you for a MRI scan or another form of further investigation.
- We may suggest referring you to a spinal or neurological consultant for further assessment.
- We may prescribe analgesic medication to help relieve your symptoms.
- Or we may refer you for treatment by a physiotherapist or other specialist.
After every consultation we'll write to you to confirm our assessment, recommendations and detailing any referrals, and send a copy to your GP - if you'd like us to.
And we'll keep in touch with you to check whatever comes next is working for you, and to support you on your journey towards a future free of back and neck pain.

If our clinic times don't suit you, please contact us to advise of your preferred day and time, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Please be aware that, as detailed on this website, we offer a diagnostic and triaging service. We aim to help get to the root of your spine or neck problem, and advise on and support appropriate steps towards recovery and/or the relief of pain. We do not ourselves offer treatment directly, other than prescribing medication.
